This blog is all about 5 easy knots you can do at home with a rope/string during Coronavirus/Covid-19. Also there is a bonus. Would you like to learn them? If you do then read this blog.
1. Overhand Knot
The first knot I’ll be showing you is the Overhand Knot. I’m going to have a standing end and a working end. The first step to complete this Overhand knot is to make a loop then thread the working end over the loop then under the loop then tighten.
This is an image of an Overhand knot.
2. Underhand Knot
This is a Underhand knot very similar to the over knot that I taught you about, which is the Overhand knot. So the first step to make a Underhand knot is to make a loop then thread the working end under the loop then over the loop after tighten.
This is an picture of the knot called the Underhand knot.
3. Figure of 8 Loop
z|So this is the third most easiest knot, which is called the Figure of 8 Loop. So the first step to make the Figure of 8 Loop is to get your working end and put it next to your standing end. Step 2 is to make a loop then thread it over then under your standing end and working end. Next thread it through the first loop you created and tighten.
This is the Figure of 8 Loop.
4. Square Knot
So this knot is a square knot. It involves a Overhand then a Underhand. This does not involve a standing end. Lets jump right into it so step one is to make an Overhand knot but do not tighten and then create a Underhand knot and now tighten.
This a photo of a Square knot.
5. Clove Hitch
This is a Clove Hitch knot the 5th easy not you need something that you can lift above the ground, standing or something you can move about. For step 1 you need to get your working end then put it over your object then pull it. Step 2 is to put it over your rope. For step 3 you need to pull it and then put it under the left side of your cross.
A Clove Hitch wrapped round wrapping paper.
Bonus Thief Knot
This is a Thief knot not to get confused with the square knot. First step is to loop it back on it’s self. Second you need to get the other rope and thread it under then over then under then back over again. For step 3 you need to tighten them really tight
This is an image of a Thief knot on our rug.
Conclusion
I hope you enjoyed reading this blog about the 5 easy knots with a bonus if you want to see the recording check Little Brothers studio to see the video version. Read our separate tutorials is well to find out the full detail. They are called Overhand Knot tutorial, Underhand Knot tutorial ect. if you would also like to read some of our book reviews please feel free to check them out either a nightscape book review https://educ8.uk/nightscape-book-review/or a bad dad book review https://educ8.uk/bad-dad-book-review/.
Schools closed so we carried on learning and then made a Company called Educ8.uk. Now we write blogs about what we do every day so this blog is all about Day 3 of home educating. We aren’t keeping any secrets so read this blog for fully truth!
Maths
In Maths, we did Multiplication the questions were tens by units for example 58×0, 17×3, 46×4, 56×1, 59×0 and 17×6. Also tens by tens for example 68×42, 12×21 and 40×66 ect. Then we x tens by hundreds here are some examples 68×118, 60×938, 80×629 and 42×188. Obviously I got them all write because I like Maths and I’m also really good at Maths.
History
In History, I watched the Battle of the Atlantic on Facebook live the Battle of Atlantic, was the longest continuous military campaign in World War II, ran from 1939 to the defeat of Nazi Germany in 1945, covering a major part of the Naval history of World War II. At its core was the Allied naval blockade of Germany, announced the day after the declaration of war, and Germany’s subsequent counter-blockade. The campaign peaked from mid-1940 through to the end of 1943. So that’s what we did in history from 1 to 2 o’clock. Here is one of my drawing from the Battle of the Atlantic. Just look below!
Start date: 03 Sep 1940s
End date: 08 May 1943

He writes lots of books but if you want to find out then just carry on reading to find out (It tells you in the next paragraph) Also carry on reading to find out my opinion on a Bad Dad book review.
What Books David Walliams Wrote
Who do you think wrote Bad Dad? It was David Walliams, who also writes lots of other books called Bad Dad, Slime, The Ice Monster, The beast of Buckingham Palace, The Creature Choir, The World’s Worst Teachers, Fing, Geronimo The Penguin Who Thought He Could Fly, The World’s Worst Children 2, The World’s Worst Children 3, Grandpa’s Great Escape, Awful Auntie, The Midnight Gang, Billionaire Boy, Mr Stink, The Boy in the Dress, Ratburger, Demon Dentist, Gangster Granny, The Bear Who Went Boo, The First Hippo on the Moon, The Slightly Annoying Elephant, The Queen’s Orang-Utan and Boogie Bear ect. It’s time to read my Bad dad book review!
The front cover from a side perspective.
My Opinion on the Book
This is my opinion on the book called Bad Dad wrote by David Walliams is very good. I think you should consider buying it but the only bad thing is that it has a lot of pages. If you like books then it will be no problem for you. Also I don’t recommend it for little children because it has 422 pages. It is very long and talks about lots of different adventures. This is a little blurb, Dads come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. There are fat ones and thin ones, tall ones and short ones. There are silly ones and serious ones, loud ones and quiet ones.
This is another picture taken from another perspective.
Rating
I give this book a 10/10 because I love reading. Don’t forget to read our other blogs links are in the next paragraph so read them.
Nightscapes real name is Harry Gallagher he lives in London and climbs buildings in London and other cities and then he wrote this blog all about what he does. He’s 22 years old. He’s an urban explorer and photographer who gained fame on both YouTube and Instagram under the name Night Scape with his explorations of places that not many others would dare to consider. Some of his top videos include “Climbing the Sidemen Tower (Arrested),” “Sneaking into New Westham Stadium” and “London Skyscraper Climb – 183M.” That was just a short brief of Harry Gallagher so now it is time to read a Nightscape book review
Nightscapes real name is Harry Gallagher. Harry Gallagher climbs buildings so he made two YouTube channels about climbing buildings called Nightscape and Dayscape. I like it because his book has so many amazing illustrations and tells you don’t let people tell you what to do and get out of your comfort zone.
This the front cover looking at another perspective.
My Opinion
I think you should read it since it is telling you about his life of climbing buildings freeruning and parkour. Also it tells you after this book don’t go and just start climbing because even if you’re 5 metres in air it will feel totally different to when your 30 metres in the air. He climbed the worlds tallest chimney and most of the skyscrapers in London and also lots in different countries cities like Santorini, Shanghai, Jakarta, and Dubai.
This is another perspective of the front cover.
Additional Information
Even better he climbs
other buildings like the Sideman Tower, the Humber Bridge, the London Stadium, a
bridge in Stratford, Petticoat Tower, Balfron Tower and One Canada Square.
Do you want to hear about day 2 of home educating through the eyes of a 10 year old? We are going to be writing a blog every day on what we have learnt. All throughout covid-19 aka coronavirus you shouldn’t worry because you need to read our blog called Coronavirus School Closure Tips
Maths
Our first subject was maths again so today we worked on percentage questions such as 60% of 80, 80% of 0, 90% of 20 and 100% of 20, which I got all of these questions right. They are grades 6 and 7. How old do you have to be in grades 6 and 7? You have to be aged 10 1/2 to 12 years old to answer the questions. I’m only 10 years old but I got them all right. There were 4 sheets with 16 questions on each and I got every single question right, which made it so I got a total of 64 marks.
Hear are some of the workings out to some of the questions.
Spelling
I got tested on some year 5 and year 6 spelling words, which I obviously got 10/10 on. Well done to me! The words that I got tested on were Yacht, Vehicle, Vegetable, Variety, Twelfth, Thorough, System, Symbol, Suggest and Sufficient. I am very good at spelling and I also like spelling because you use different methods to learn how to spell words like manufacturer and lots more words.
This is a image of the spellings that I got tested on.
Reading
I read Bad Dad again today.
PE
After dinner, I went on our trampoline to do a PE lesson so I was teaching myself how to Kody, which is a front drop to a backflip. A front drop is where you bounce in the air then jump and land onto your stomach. Also I was doing Front flips, Kabooms and Arabians.
I hope you enjoyed reading about day 2 of home educating. But now go and read day 1 of home educating.
In this post – coronavirus school closure tips for parents we’ve got you covered, read through our 9 essential top tips. Governments around the world have closed schools to slow the spread of COVID-19 known generally as coronavirus. As parents you’re now faced with another hat to wear: Home Educator.
Keep Calm and Carry On – 1
Don’t panic or worry. It’s natural for you to be concerned whether you are doing your best, could you have done better? For many it will be several years or even decades since we’ve ever had to think about working out the answer to 23 * 34 using an approved method ( let alone know what the approved methods are ).
We’re at the end of week 1 educating our 4 little treasures. It’s not been easy, however, it’s not actually been difficult either.
Unless you’re a teacher you may feel out of your depth but always remember… children are so versatile and are more receptive to change than adults which as I’m sure some will agree can become stuck in their ways.
coronavirus school closure tips for parents
Set a Routine – 2
Set that alarm and make sure you get yourself up. Kids love and respond better to routine. Ensure you get everyone up, dressed and ready for home school with a prompt start. Choose a time to fit in with your routine/committments. For us we chose to start at 9am in keeping with usual school starting time.
Don’t think you can let your kids loaf in bed until the afternoon and then expect to muster them pronto to an unannounced learning session in 5 minutes. You’ll head for a family showdown.
Let-It-Go – 3
It is inevitable that there will come times that you will reach an impasse. This could be poor behaviour, resistance or lack of focus to rename some. The truth is you’re facing a hard task and you’ll likely have other matters or worries on your mind which make the perfect ingredients needed to over react.
If your poppets realise they can make you explode and bring lessons to an end they’ll have you hook line and sinker everytime.
Take a breath, compose yourself and move on. Keep making progress. Avoid digging in.
You’re doing Great – 4
Before your home education session begins clear your mind. This is a time for learning not worrying about shopping or calling David to order spuds.
Cast everything else aside and quit worrying that you’re not going great, you’re not holding things together. Work to a set schedule where you’ll focus solely on being the best.
You are great! In fact… you are awesome!
Turn off Gadgets – 5
Don’t allow electronic gadgets anywhere near your home learning space. Switch off the TV/XBOX/YouTube playing away in the background.
Cherubs with gadgets in hand will set learning out of hand.
The only exception is where school is sending work home online such as Google Classroom in which case use of technology is fine. In this case arrange the seating so you can see the screen to ensure Google Classroom does not migrate to TikTok.
Clear Space – 6
Try and allocate a set area. Don’t overthink this – your kitchen table will suffice perfectly.
Having a set area will help set the mood when it’s time to learn. If this is a dual use area then just set aside an extra five minutes ahead of time to clear the space prior to starting.
Stay Hydrated – 7
Keep young minds watered. Dehydration can affect learning flow. Have some water bottles loaded and ready.
Timetable – 8
Not to be confused with times tables we strongly recommend to plan ahead and set a weekly timetable. Think about each learning day and balance out learning sessions and subjects across the week. Secondary pupils may benefit from trying to maintain their school timetable as they will likely have more work sent home from school than primary school children.
Flow it out – 9
Allow yourself flexiability and be guilt free about changing the timetable if the need arises. If you’ve decided on a foreign language lesson and your sprechen sie Deutsch isn’t happening it’s fine to delegate subjects out to resources such as YouTube as fitting. If one lesson consists of open discussions of life experiences and you miss a history slot it’s cool. Remember your children learn more from you than you realise – parents are their childrens greatest inspiration.
Go with the flow… surprise yourself.
Relax – Bonus Tip
Government school closures is unchartered waters for parents and equally a surprise for children aswell. We’re used to the odd day/week of closures due to bad weather but closures due to a global pandemic are a once in a lifetime event.
If one day doesn’t happen, relax. Take the opportunity to hang out with your offspring and build up bonding time. Tomorrow is another day and you can crack on with lessons fresh faced.
Summary – coronavirus school closure tips
COVID-19 aka coronavirus school closure tips for parents – will hopefully make a difference in your home education experience. Stay positive you can do this!
coronavirus school closures so we carry on educating
Lets talk about day 1 of home educating Monday 23rd March. Welcome to Educ8.uk this is our blog about what we’ve done during coronavirus aka covid-19, which is its scientific name. We are going to write a blog everyday on what we’ve done at home. This is a massive project to complete but we are going to push through it since we’re educating at home.
Maths
So today our first lesson was maths and what we’re doing was working on our sheets that school sent home and mine were to do with fractions, decimals and percentages so that’s what we did in Maths. Some examples are 55%-39% or 100%-15%-10% but also there was some word problems also there were questions asking me to shade 63% of a 100 square and to turn fractions into decimals then turn decimals into percentages.
Spelling
Then we did a spelling test, which I got 10/10 on well done to me! The spellings were Bargain, Familiar, Nuisance, Conscience, Neighbour, Temperature, Amateur, Appreciate, Awkward and Determined, which was all year 5 and year 6 spelling words because I’m in year 5. I am really good at spelling words even hard ones like manufacture and car makes such as Lamborghini, Ferrari, Bugatti, Volkswagen and lots more car manufactures.
Reading
Finally we read for 5 minutes so I chose to read Bad Dad wrote by David Walliams. I read from page 100-106 because I read sometimes so that’s why I was already up to page 100. I like the book but it is very long but very good its all about dads that can come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. There are fat ones and thin ones, tall ones and short ones. There are silly ones and serious ones, loud ones and quiet ones. Of course there are good dads. And there are bad dads. That’s like a blurb for the book obviously it talks about bad dads.
PE
After dinner, my brothers and I played tennis to get some fresh air. I did all sorts of shots like surfs, forehands, backhands, volleys etc. Get ready to hear tomorrows blog of Day 2 of home educating.
Thank you for reading about home educating day 1
Our home school diaries, which we write our notes In so that we can write a blog about our day.
Friday 20th March 2020 all schools in the United Kingdom will close under government guidance in efforts to reduce the spread of Corona Virus Covid-19. Other schools throughout the world have already closed and more in further countries are sure to follow.
Welcome. Thanks for stopping and taking the time to read this, in fact if you are reading this then you are here at the start of our adventure ( collect your magic unicorn sprinkles by the door on your way out ).
Schools are now closed for an indeterminate period of time and parents now have “educator” to add to their gigantic list of responsibilities.
Do NOT under any circumstances PANIC. There is simply no need. Uncertainty brings out the amazing.
Our mission is to help those parents suddenly finding themselves having to climb onto the home learning pedestal.
